Hard Boiled 4K UHD Blu-ray arrives November 4 from Shout! Studios
Shout! Studios presents John Woo’s Hard Boiled on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray this November 4 as part of the Hong Kong Cinema Classics line. The release delivers a new restoration, an extensive lineup of extras, and deluxe packaging for one of the most influential action films ever made.
Film background
John Woo directed Hard Boiled in 1992, starring Chow Yun-fat and Tony Leung. The film follows a relentless cop and an undercover agent navigating Hong Kong’s criminal underworld. Woo’s direction established Hard Boiled as his magnum opus, and the film’s stylized “gun-fu” action influenced the language of global action cinema.
4K UHD presentation
Shout! Studios presents Hard Boiled from a new 4K scan of the original camera negative. The film is shown in Dolby Vision HDR with a 1.85:1 aspect ratio. Viewers can choose Cantonese or English DTS-HD Master Audio Mono tracks, accompanied by newly translated English subtitles created for this edition.
The package also includes a Blu-ray edition of the film. The Blu-ray disc uses the same 4K restoration and offers all commentary tracks for HD playback.
