New Wave Video releasing Rubber’s Lover and Strange Circus Blu-rays this October
New Wave Video will release Shozin Fukui’s Rubber’s Lover and Sion Sono’s Strange Circus on Blu-ray in October. Both editions are director-approved and come with new bonus features and limited-edition packaging.
Rubber’s Lover Blu-ray details
A stark black-and-white vision of cyberpunk horror, Rubber’s Lover follows rogue scientists who push human experimentation to extremes. Their work combines sensory overload, drug-induced psychic abilities, and sadistic tests, leading to madness and destruction. The film’s industrial aesthetic and relentless pacing cement its place as a cult classic from the director of 964 Pinocchio.
This 1996 feature arrives in a new 4K restoration from the original 16mm camera and sound negatives. The 1080p high-definition presentation includes:

The release comes in a slipcover with UV and spot gloss, limited to 1,200 units. It is listed as Spine #1 in the New Wave Video lineup.
Strange Circus Blu-ray details
In Strange Circus, reality and fiction intertwine in a disturbing tale of identity, trauma, and buried secrets. A novelist named Taeko writes about a young girl, Mitsuko, who suffers abuse at the hands of her father. As the novel unfolds, the boundaries between author and character blur, creating a tense mystery that builds toward a shocking climax.
The 2005 psychological drama will receive a 1080p high-definition presentation with the following supplements:
